Evidence

Direct data

  • Statistics Canada SFS 2023 uses a family-unit reference: economic families plus persons not in an economic family. WORTH99 preserves that source construct and does not silently convert it to Household.
  • The direct P5-P95 curve is reconstructed from the released public-use family file using registered derivation CA_SFS_2023_V1_1, termination-basis net worth PWNETWPT and survey weight PWEIGHT. The source ZIP, main CSV, audit and truth curve are hash-verified; all registered knots use deterministic weighted-ECDF first crossing.
  • The production-database median CAD519,700 belongs to a separate pre-perturbation publication lineage. This PUMF route uses the direct PUMF median CAD521,100 and does not mix grouped production-table medians into the curve.
  • Statistics Canada cautions that the PUMF is not representative enough for very-high-wealth inference above the top 5%; WORTH99 therefore stops at P95 and does not infer P99.
